Kirsten Hansen is a fully qualified Biokineticist. She is a passionate individual who loves training people and seeing them achieve their results.

She has filled her CV with internationally recognized courses, is affiliated and registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and Biokinetic Association.

Her passion is to change lives doing functional movement patterns, by educating clients to invest in their future by improving their health and fitness. More than 12 years of experience training clients, she is confident in getting results and getting overall movement, well-being and putting back confidence in people’s lives.

Boxing Coach

Llewellyn began to develop his boxing skills when training youngsters on how to skip and box. He would go to schools and give motivational talks to kids and show them how much fun you can have with a skipping rope, as well as assisting kids who had difficulty with coordination. He developed his own BOXFIT workout routine that anyone could do, with the main goal being to get fit, tone, build rhythm, hand eye coordination, speed, and agility to mention a few benefits.

He then noticed there was a huge interest in skipping and boxing, and his aim was to give the client the whole boxing experience (that is to train just like a boxer) without getting into a ring. He has trained a wide range of people: from teens to adults and looks forward to helping others achieve optimal performance.

Joy was awarded her Honours degree after studying Human Kinetics for 4 years at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. She then worked in Canada for 9 years for a Rehab company assisting clients with their physical rehabilitation after injury, surgery, or chronic condition onset. During this time she became a Certified Hydrotherapist, and has been absolutely amazed by the results. She is very excited to bring her expertise and experience to South Africa.

Who will benefit from Hydrotherapy? Everyone!!…especially those with conditions related to: whiplash, post-op orthopaedic injuries, arthritic conditions, cardiovascular conditions and poor posture. Joy also specializes in core strengthening for post pregnancy moms and people with back pain and weakness.


Biokinetics is defined as the science of movement through the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment. Biokineticists are concerned with promoting health, maintaining physical abilities, and final phase rehabilitation of orthopaedic injuries and chronic conditions. They achieve results by using scientifically based physical activity programme prescription, specific to an individual’s needs and goals. Both Tara Van Alphen and Cathryn Masterson are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. They are both exercise specialists who are driven to improve a person’s physical well-being and quality of life. At Velocity we offer some of the best sports and remedial massage around. Willie Louw, is a fully qualified sports scientist, Lynotherapist and massage therapist. Chris Allan is a registered Physio who operates from Velocity Sports Lab. He qualified in 1996 from Wits University and has worked at The Centre for Sports Medicine in Rosebank and at The Sports Science Institute of South Africa in Cape Town. He has assisted on numerous provincial and national level sports teams. He currently runs his own sports physiotherapy practice at Velocity Sports Lab, ably assisted by physio Kelly McKenzie. His practice offers pre- and post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation, injury prevention management and return to sport. Chris Allan has always upheld the highest standards in service delivery and is committed to efficacy and an evidence based, innovative approach to rehabilitation and manual therapy. Chris obtained a MPhil in sports physiotherapy from UCT in 2013. His research dissertation, which was awarded a distinction, was on the biomechanics of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome in runners.



Our resident dietitian, Mariella Dierks is a passionate triathlete and runner. She did her undergraduate degree in Sport Science and completed her honors in dietetics and nutrition last year.

She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and recipes with the world and this is what drives her.

” I find such joy in enriching fellow athletes with knowledge about nutrition and to show them how to make a healthy diet an easy part of life because having time to cook complicated meals and snacks is a luxury that athletes, especially us triathletes, simply don’t have. So come join me on my journey of making nutritious, easy, delicious food.”

Our resident sports scientist, Tim Ellerbeck, coaches and trains athletes looking for a competitive edge and those in need of sport-specific guidance. Whether your goal is to finish your first 10km run or push for a podium position at World Championship level he can help you. Tim deals with the following options – personal training sessions, training programs and training camps. He’s happy to accommodate any special requests to cater for an individual’s needs. Depending on the level of coaching required, interested parties can be assisted with an internet based training program, or on the flip side one can have fully integrated one-on-one training sessions (with internet supplementation*) at Velocity Sports Lab, for athletes based in Cape Town.
